What Was Left Behind

Like a phantom

moving through the room

I tremble with my

eyes closed and shivering skin.

I turn my head

hoping to see it soon.

The trail of fire

you leave behind on the floor.

I know you were

made for somewhere not here.

The air bends

and from my lungs disappear.

The room is frozen

captured in some trance not real.

The sky opens wide,

cracks through the ceiling reveal.

Taken far away I realize

the room will never be the same.
