What No Rhyme Defines

I am walking one foot

in front of the other.

My left foot is happy

that it has another.

I walk the line fine

I’m luckier than most

to appear sane when I’m

haunted by your ghost.

I’m always happy when

it rains washing streets.

I just lock myself inside

pull over my head sheets.

My unholy condition is

afflicting me I grit teeth.

When reality seeps under

what I’d hope it would be.

It’s sufficient I’m fine

inner nature is no crime.

My feet detach I climb

on sound softly in rhyme.

If you will be my sound

I’ll provide the words heard.

What’s told in trembling lips

can never be truly unfurled.

I’ve got this ink now I

have this paper I scratch

like digging up holes like

many have done in the past.

Let me make new news

I am clearly lost and insane.

From magic incantations

spilling from inside my brain.

But my joy yes it is complete.

Yes it is one day at a time

and I have experienced you

that no rhyme could define.

The poem is beautiful but I had to read it twice because the first time I couldn’t stop singing “put one foot in front of the other, ” from Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. Lol. I’m not right!! Anyway, I went back & reread it because I felt I didn’t give the poem the attention it deserves. It truly is beautiful!
