I’m a friend of the dark
where in night I embark.
All that is left now is part
of a dark macabre heart.
I’ll travel twisting roads
even if danger I suppose
does travel as I now go
from the shadow exposed.
I enjoy the same things
I manage to make scenes
in my mind so obscene
my hands must turn clean.
Always looking for ways
to unite my joy my pain
that in rooms I go days
before I lift this glib haze.
I’ll turn to the night easily
for metaphors to please me.
I just want you to believe me
my heart’s not lost completely.
A sphere has two sides I
am both darkness and light.
That as we rotate the night
still plauges that which I fight.
My battle rages in pages
turning themselves amazed
at the discovery emblazed
a heart teaching new ways.
What is this world if there
were no grass to slide down
and elegant streams pooled
as water stays above ground?
My dark aspect may reflect
the content I use for effect
that gives a broken aspect
one day I’ll learn to correct.
I love this, Jared. There is a quote by Christopher Poindexter that fits with this that I’ll share, because he explains it better than I ever could, but I wholeheartedly agree with both you & him.
The quote goes:
“The purpose of life is not just to be happy. The purpose of life my love, is to feel. You must understand that your pain is essential.”

Even Epricus will find it impossible to disagree with you.

“I’ll turn to the night easily
For metaphors to please me” is my best wording in this piece. It’s a beauty…and the rhyming…
