A steady beat of drums and
loud guitars calling upon
you move your hips despite
the heartache in the song.
It’s a remembrance dance
But the rhythm is good
A somber slow move
Bright spots flicker
There is an opposite and
remedy for dredged gloom.
I find myself joyous in little
harmonies found that bloom.
It’s an equal reaction
Joy oozes in like sweet cream
Take your finger
And swipe a big dollop
I am numb to what hurts
here with you spinning.
For you my dear friend I’ll
have words commencing.
In the same way that water
Can split sunlight into a rainbow
There is a beautiful dance
Of life’s little inside joke
Harmony is a palette and
I dab colors that it contains.
Your canvas has shades black
because you’re not that vain.
Your palette I see is broad
And your blots are shaped
Like iron and iris
We are humbled by pain
I want to bury you deep
inside the center of my head.
“It may hurt,” cries my mind
but I go with my heart instead.
We shake our snow globe head
And let the glitter fall
They grow as if seed
It’s bud of black and blue
Can you see me here now?
On my canvas there is blue.
I would not ever know love
if I didn’t know pain well too.
Yes my eyes are open now
I see love’s whip it stings
But the rise is always worth the fall
I welcome the bury
