Under The Rainbow

Coiled as if a spring

tight and wound ready

to release ramblings

for my burden’s heavy.

In woe I’ve examined

of what all will see.

The end of our light

in life’s great journey.

We are all of us kin

by way of death I do

think of my mortality;

my grave in night dew.

I wish no sorrow when

I find my end on earth.

For my sorrows in life

no longer will they hurt.

I’ve conquered fears

by the shedding tears

caressing my cheek to

fall down to disappear.

I’ve felt splendid love,

the rapture of desire.

I’ve basked in warmth;

love’s passionate fire.

I spin here on a globe

and during can’t escape

the experience of death

that for all does await.

I shall not let nor incline

looming death to define

my course through time

nor stay inside my mind.

To see rainbows is awe

because they are sights

that remind us of beauty

in the brutal earth’s plight.

Play tunes of pure joy

by the lowering casket.

For yet broken my life it

at times feels so magic.
