My Slumber’s Journey

In me is a peril

as I try and sleep.

My head it rests

as thunder heats.

Shallow slumber

does not sustain.

Exuded strength

is all but in vain.

For below where

you can’t behold

I toss and turn in

concerning holes.

Depths that sight

do not ever reach

is where my sight

brings me to weep.

For dear my friend

and for family kin

I see pain wrought

here in once again.

For not but a body

am I now and here

so inept to change

pain to disappear.

So I sleep not now

these days in life.

Falling below hotly

I fall asleep tonight.

For disturbed is my

soul set upon fire

by my journey made

for my hope’s desire.

That for now as I do

fall asleep in a tomb

I take within myself

a journey for you.
