Burn It Down

You light your match,

I will light mine same.

We’ll call out the form

we envision in flames.

***

I see blue I burn warm

more than you pause.

Let us talk awhile here

about our fable lost.

***

Let me make sense me

I know better than you.

Burned out like matches

heat is forever through.

***

Smoke it rises it passes

as everything does too.

I find that as I go down

and away I do miss you.

***

You move opposite win

you feel that you have.

Yet your look that I did

see again after was sad.

***

Do you remember us I

and my adolescent self?

I was just a child then I

reminisce I can’t it help.

***

The culdasac we made

our own is consumed in

leaves and trees where

our love started to begin.

***

I took a match lit there

and burned it all down.

From a distance I stood

and saw us in the cloud.

***

I saw us embrace a first

it was for me so I cried.

As I tilted my head low

I cried my last goodbye.

***

Yet the years come and

send everything behind.

I a man I find a comfort

you are when I rewind.

***

I see progress a wisdom

in that which I learned

that to move on forward

some things must burn.

    I love these last verse:

    “Yet the years come and
    send everything behind.
    I a man I find a comfort
    you are when I rewind.”

    Amazing, Jared!
