Fair Weather Friend

Where have you been?

Chaos is beating bruise

my world cold needs it,

your balm for to soothe.

When the bitter wind it

swells clouds of calamity

I look around and I see

you nowhere near to me.

Do you enjoy standing

far away to see a torture

that envelops consume

my place circles vultures.

Will you bring to life if

it is hard for me breathe

in a suffocating dark say

your sweet words to me?

What’s done in our worst

of times defines us seen

are those whose purpose

isn’t consumed by conceit.

To love is to see past trite

things that mean so little.

To love is to compromise;

in bitterness find a middle.

So here I am now with a

love with my soul so torn.

I look all around and see

you nowhere so I’m scorn.

How much did our soft

laughs in the dark mean?

We held each other tight

in night until the sun seen.

Release we had sacrificed

parts of ourselves denied

so that at the end of day

we could lay side by side.

But now that is over I see

so clear who you now are.

The distance together we

traveled is but ugly scars.
