Salting The Earth

A bird sat on

my shoulder

to sing a song;

none bolder.

I listened to

tales of where

flew sparrows;

flying on air.

Pass by I’m not

quite innocent;

I reach deep for

some semblance.

Walls ten feet

I look to scale.

Uncouth ways

of mine do fail.

I’ll shout for it

to declare mine;

my journey cold

as begin I climb.

World of chaos

I seek to escape.

My heart within

soul it is awake.

Moments come,

I hear calm I can

order my feet to

follow command.

To be me a battle,

salt the earth I do,

so that none see

me I once knew.

At great height I

see wrought plight.

Whether I’ve wings

or not I plan flight.
