Musical Musings #1 “The Rolling Stones.”

Okay, so this song is about drugs…or so some say anyway. I think different. I think this is about escaping reality, which is rife with filth for some. Also, it is about drugs. See what I did there?

There are many reasons people do what they do. We all fight in our own little battles. Time passes, we learn to cope. That being said I hope not to imply that as we get older it doesn’t get harder to maintain one’s sanity sometimes.

This song makes me think quite a bit about the nature of one’s impulses and anxieties and the things we do to manage. That is what it felt like to me. Needless to say others will read these lyrics and see something different. Because people indeed are different.

Music speaks many things to many people. How a tune touches our ears is remarkable. You guys should read the lyrics and see what you think. Really, seeing the lyrics changes everything. Which truly is a sign of a true rock and roll band. Enjoy and much love.

Thank You,

Jared

The Rolling Stones(Or you can call them the best rock band ever assembled.)

The Rolling Stones

What a drag it is getting old.

“Kids are different today”
I hear ev’ry mother say.
Mother needs something today to calm her down.

And though she’s not really ill,
there’s a little yellow pill.
She goes running for the shelter of a mother’s little helper.

And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day.

I hear ev’ry mother say
cooking fresh food for a husband’s just a drag.

So she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak.
And goes running for the shelter of a mother’s little helper.

And two help her on her way, get her through her busy day.

Doctor please, some more of these.
Outside the door, she took four more.
What a drag it is getting old.

“Men just aren’t the same today”
I hear ev’ry mother say.
They just don’t appreciate that you get tired.

They’re so hard to satisfy, you can tranquilize your mind.
So go running for the shelter of a mother’s little helper.

And four help you through the night, help to minimize your plight.

Doctor please, some more of these
Outside the door, she took four more.

What a drag it is getting old.

“Life’s just much too hard today”
I hear ev’ry mother say,
the pursuit of happiness just seems a bore.

And if you take more of those, you will get an overdose.
No more running for the shelter of a mother’s little helper.

They just helped you on your way, through your busy dying day.

I love this idea. Music is powerful, as you touched on, people can interpret music differently. What you take away from a specific song might mean something completely different to me, that’s the beauty of it. I think it’s interesting to see what different people’s interpretations are. I’m already looking forward to Musical Musings #2.

Sorry, Winchester, there’s no way the Stones are a better rock band than Zeppelin. You’re wrong on this one. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

    1. I’m not going to get into it with you Weigman but the Stones have had more hits than Zepplin. I reject your assertion and my response is…seriously Weigman? πŸ™„πŸ€£

        1. 🀣🀣 You must live under powerlines. 🀣🀣 (JK) The correct answer is Stones over Zepplin Weigman. 😜
