Cripple Am I

The touch of the world
touched me hard today.
The touch of the world
tore down where I play.

My heart wrenched tears
tore down my walls tall.
My heart wrenched tears
and the suffering appalled.

My light turned swiftly
as I sought out the day.
The birds sang no song
and a chill hurt my face.

Why has the earth spun
its revolution Dear Lord?
Why has the blood spilled
from my vessels to the floor?

I try to stand but the earth
gives way under my feet.
And I feel the wind not,
and I don’t eat or sleep.
