Where I Am King

A heavy burden came
with ideas that swayed
me my contorted core
but values mine remain.

Age has found me years
of the span of a lifetime
brought in ache taught
me to expand my mind.

I want to numb it down
to extract from tissue I
sit here confused I use
words kind to pass time.

The sky is askew and it
resonates so cold now.
I think of starry skies up
above ice filled clouds.

I refuse to carry the past,
as if it were some plauge,
into my eternal existence
so I turn another page.

Changing tunes to songs
as they release into air is
just something I aquired
to soothe the devil’s kiss.

Tell me my angel of death,
I see you outside to sling
arrows at a conflicted heart
but inside it I am king.
